md5 verification

MD5 Verification

I downloaded and installed FileCheckMD5 (kudos to Brandon Staggs) and then ran a file check against the downloaded iso file for Vista x64 Beta 2. The file properties window states the correct size: 4,309,368,832 bytes. The MD5 result I receive from the test is:
8ec33bb91f4b8a364b349323cf5dcbda
VistaBase's site (Great site! Check them out!) states it should be:
E43502D0A15EADD551119D5639859E04
I realize these are different. I just want to be sure that I have a corrupt iso before I go through the motions of re-downloading 4G worth of data.
Can anyone who actually knows what they are doing, unlike myself, verify the MD5 as reported by VistaBase?

There's a link on the same page Mark - http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.php?getstarted
And a big thanks to Andre of course who posted them in the first place :o) And thanks for the compliments!

I should have looked more thoroughly! And Andre has been nicely answering this same question in this forum about a gazillion times too as I discovered after actually searching instead of lazily posting! So far both of you have helped me immensly.

I tried the checker and it tells me that my Vista and Office 2007 are both fine which is strange since Vista is only 2,097 mb and Office failed to install. :(

I have the same checksum as well, did you have to redownload it?

I re-downloaded the file. Exactly the same size, exactly the same, incorrect, checksum.

I have downloaded the 64 bit version three times now, and I have the same wrong MD5 result as you are getting, the chances of that are very low... I can only assume that maybe the file on the server is somehow corrupt

Sorry about the first post.
I used the recommended download manager for the 32 bit version. Everything looks okay except the posted/correct checksum. I used two MD5 programs and neither displayed the correct checksum.
I am downloading it again. However, I am wondering if there is another reason the checksum would be different as Heath pointed out.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I used a different checksum app and it worked. Here's the link: http://vista.visualwin.com/check-iso/
I always extract zipped files into my C:\Extract folder and I had so many MD5 apps I named this folder "Command Line".
In any case, both of my downloads checked out so you may want to go grab this little app and run it.
A tip: So I didn't have to type the entire name, I just copied the file name from the properties tab.
C:\EXTRACT\Command line>md5.exe vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_cl ient-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773 vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_ client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso

I realize these are different. I just want to be sure that I have a corrupt iso before I go through the motions of re-downloading 4G worth of data.
Can anyone who actually knows what they are doing, unlike myself, verify the MD5 as reported by VistaBase?

Windows Vista
